MEA fabrication and testing now standardized across two labs, at two separate CABES sites.
Philadelphia, PA and Ithaca, NY
Following unique designs from the Mallouk group in CABES at the University of Pennsylvania, two sets of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) fabrication stations and fuel cell test stations have been assembled and are operational for CABES researchers.
The first of these stations was established at University of Pennsylvania in the Mallouk Group labs. Following successful implementation there, and to add to the fuel cell test station recently installed in Ithaca, the Abruña Group at Cornell University added the second MEA fabrication station here in Ithaca.
These new facilities enable testing of advanced and novel electrocatalysts, support materials, membrane electrolyte materials, and their combinations under conditions nearly identical to those of commercial fuel cells.
